Waves Flip Flops are built to last, but the inevitable happens and one day you might need to replace your favourite pair of flip flops! That begs the question, what do you do with your old pair? Recycle them, donate them, or turn them into something else – take a look at some of our top suggestions below.
There are plenty of charity shops dotted around that will accept your old flip flops if they’re still in good condition. If not, there are plenty of other charities that’ll donate your flip flops to less developed countries, sometimes you’ll find these online or public drop off points in stores. Nearer Christmas time there are often charity drives that encourage donations to these causes, so keep your eyes peeled.
If you can’t find a shop or an address to send your flip flops too, then you might be able to find a shoe bank. These banks will usually donate your flip flops as above or recycle them into completely different products! You’ll find these dotted about in large car parks, supermarkets and some recycling centres. Make sure you tie them together or so they don’t get separated. Take a look at Shoe Aid for their locations across the UK.
Create something new with your old flip flops. Cut them into shapes to make paint stamps if you have children, pair them up with some old mugs or plant pots to create some hanging flowers – as seen here, or replace the worn-out straps with some fabric straps! There are hundreds of ideas out there to take inspiration from.
These are the best ways to help prevent your old flip flops from ending up on a landfill site or in the ocean! Fancy helping to clean your local beach? Why not check out our blog on how to organise your own beach clean.
